St John’s College Medicine Taster Day is aimed at exceptional ���ճԹ� at the end of Year 12 England/Wales, S5 Scotland or Y13 Northern Ireland who are considering applying to Cambridge in 2026 by the 15 October deadline.

Our programme presents an excellent opportunity, especially for those who are attending the September Cambridge Open Day the previous day.

During the day ���ճԹ� will attend Q&A sessions, mock ‘supervisions’, and taster lectures delivered by Cambridge academics. Participants will explore a range of exciting topics from the Medical Sciences course and find out more about the application process.

They will also have the chance to meet current St John’s ���ճԹ� and hear first-hand what it is like to live and study here. Lunch will be provided free of charge by St John’s College.

This taster day is for ���ճԹ� who are on track to meet or exceed the entry requirements for Cambridge’s Medical Sciences course, as confirmed by a teacher referee.

Applications are assessed on academic merit and places are limited. When selecting participants, we may take personal background into account as well as strong academic ability and potential.

Priority will be given to ���ճԹ� meeting one or more of the following criteria, as well as the required academic achievement:

• attending a UK state sector school or college
• attending a school outside London and the South East
• currently eligible for Free School Meals
• care-experienced
• young carer
• refugee
• will be first in family to progress to higher education (ie parents did not go to university)
• have not already attended or are not going to attend a Cambridge residential

Should ���ճԹ� be offered a place, we will require permission from a parent/guardian for the successful applicant to attend.

For those attending the Cambridge Open Day on Friday 11 September, accommodation may be available on a case-by-case basis. Details will be provided if you are invited to this Medicine Taster Day.

Applications for this taster day closed on Wednesday 15 July 2026. Successful applicants will have been notified by Friday 24 July.
